Re: New Movies
Well... Arrived home a short while ago from watching the 3rd Hobbit movie...somewhat dissappointed.
Look... a great action piece. Not the ending we were hoping for though... the weakest of the trilogy.
I felt they could've done this in 2 movies not 3.
I will wait for the extended version and watch the Hobbit tril. then LOTR.
7/10 ...and I'm being generous
Let me know how you guys feel after watching.
I'm going to read the book now.

Re: New Movies
Have not made it to the theater yet, but now I am kinda bummed. For xmas, we got the extended edition of Desolation of Smaug but have been interrupted by phone calls or visitors when we put it on... Oh well... I do want to see it on the big screen.

Re: New Movies
Tracy,
You do need to see it on the big screen.
It will give answers to what happens in LOTR. Don't let me sway you. It's a really good movie. I'm simply comparing it to the others.

Re: New Movies
Watched a movie this AM that surprised me; hit me off guard... had no knowledge of it going into it but came away with every moment of it on my mind. A surprise worth watching. William H. Macy's directorial debut: Rudderless.
8/10 for me. Very good.

... and tonight, the wife and I saw the final Hobbit film. It was worth seeing on the silver screen.

Re: New Movies
2 Movies: John Wick and The Equaliser.
John Wick: Revenge upon revenge... Keanu Reeves and and other well knowns in this one. Gave this a 7/10
The Equaliser: Denzel Washington. A good edgy film Won't gave away the plot. Good fighting and gunplay 6-6.5/10
Both very worthy of your time. Will I watch them again??.... absolutely!
A couple of guilty pleasure movies for me.

I liked Equalizer more than John Wick. For me, I would reverse your ratings... felt they were similar genre movies, but Denzel's had the better story.

Don't have a problem with that at all Tracy. Very close...
I hear they are looking at sequels for both.

Re: New Movies
Whiplash...
8.5/10
Had me glued to the screen for the entire movie. even found myself leaning forward on occasions.
It's about a young drummer in a music conservatory... the ups and downs etc. Not what I expected... it was better. Being a jazz lover made it better I suppose.
Cool movie.

I guarantee that half way through the season you we be sorely tempted to change your mind. I still miss it now, strangely I have not missed soccer as injury finished that sport for me but I still do miss cricket.
