NHL Lockout 2012/2013 Empty NHL Lockout 2012/2013

Post by SithTracy Sun Sep 16, 2012 4:15 am

Well, it happened. Looking like there will not be any NHL hockey for the 2012/2013 season. Good think the White Sox still hold the division lead going into October. Very slim margin though. I am angry. This will be devastating. This is the third lockout under Bettman's watch. Unacceptable. I am so frustrated.

I expect another season cancelled after comments like this... Time to change my avatar.

Well, it seems there may be an NHL season after all. I'll probably watch whatever comes on TV, but I will not be buying a Center Ice package for a shortened season.

What was cause of it all Tracy ?

I'm just amazed this can actually happen. It must cause a lot of bad blood between the opposing factions...

Greed. Plain and simple. It is what happens in pro sports over here. Owners and players thinking they deserve more. Owners signing players to big contracts and then saying well, we want 30% of that back. Well... don't wave such a large carrot in front of them if it is just an illusion. I blame the commissioner for this. 3 lockouts under his reign. He has to go.

Hi guys...

I'm with Sith on this one...I think it's time for a new Commissioner. He is TRYING to kill the NHL fan base.

NHL Lockout 2012/2013 Empty Game On! Hockey is back

I disagree, he is a smart man when it comes to money and business and that is what the strike was all about. He knows that the diehard fans will all be back as I think we all are. Should he be ousted for not having this all handled before what was supposed to be the start of the season certainly but I doubt it will happen. I am happy that at least it is a 10 year contract with options after 8 years which means we have at least 7.5 years of Hockey before he, the owners and or players can screw us again...

Game On!

Leafs are 1 and 1. They play Pittsburg tonight I beleive and the Islanders tomorrow. Leafs played a pretty hard game against Buffalo the other night. A very tough team. They just could not get the puck past Miller no matter what they did. Schrivens let in a easy 5 hole shot which lost them the game. Tonight will tell the tail of weather goaltending will be a problem again for the leafs. You know Pitts can score so the defence will have to be sharp!!! Especially with the goaltending being a possible problem again. Jake gardiner is travelling with the team and it should be decided this afternoon if he will play or not. He is one guy that is good at carrying the puck out of our end and or at least very good at getting the first pass out, so we could use him back in the lineup.

NHL Lockout 2012/2013 Empty Re: NHL Lockout 2012/2013

Post by SithTracy Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:08 pm

It was a frustrating experience, but I am sucked back in. Love the game and the Hawks are 3-0. A new commish is needed, but I ask myself, "Would it matter?". I think we all know the answer to that. I am frustrated that it had to come to this and multiple times.

I will watch whatever is on TV but not going to pay for any center ice packages this year or going to any games. I did miss it and am glad it is back, but I got other priorities now since it was not in my life for several months.

if you love a sport Tracy it has a tendancy to drag you back in. I'm the same re pay for view. I won't pay. A lot of the games (footy & cricket)are still free. If it ever goes to 'pay' I'll listen to the games on the radio.

We're lucky in Aus. We don't have 'owners' of any clubs. There might be the odd soccer club but they don't do well. We have boards and CEO's

We have to wait for the Stand to be completed before we get a home game in Geelong. It'll be in June and a night game ! I might go to the odd game in Melbourne... might. Still have to pay full membership.

Al how much does it cost you to get a seat at a professional sporting event down there?

Toronto Maple Leaf tickets are insane. $450.00 for the best seat in the house and $70.00 for the worst seat in the house.

Is that per game for hockey ? Are you kidding me ?????

We are right on the fence in the newly constructed stand.

My membership including my (reserved) seat for this season is $368.00

That is Gold level (second best seating)

That gives me 7 home games in Geelong and 4 home games that are played in Melbourne.

11 Games @ $ 33.45 per game. Bloody good value if you ask me. Mind you we may get more home games next year which makes it even better value.

Ticket prices here in the states are just as bad if not worse than in Canada. What amazes me about the Leafs is they have not won the cup since the late 60's and they still charge that.

Hawks came from behind last night and won. So the highlights this AM. Wow! 4-0 start on a short season. Hope they don't run out of gas in the post season.

He Al, that is per game. Regular season would be 82 games. This shortened season will be 50 games I think?

All things must end. The Blackhawks took their first regulation loss of the season at the mid-way point last night. Amazing run, and it was a very special thing for the team and the league. Now they can focus on raising the cup in June!

Sorry it had to end Tracy! But you still have a very strong team which will probably dominate in the playoffs.

Teams can become complacent Tracy and a bit lazy so... we can look at it as a wake up call to let the boys know that it isn't just going to happen by just turning up to a game.

As the shortened regular season winds down, my Blackhawks have clinched the President's Trophy; best record in the league, but they remind us, that was not their goal. They got me pretty excited about a shortened season so I am looking for them to bring more hardware home.

4hams Toronto Maple Leafs are in the playoffs!!! Looking forward to that. Always enjoyed them when they were in the same conference as the Hawks.

First time in 9 year my Maple Leafs have even made the playoff's. Played a great game last night but got hammered the night before. Looking forward to the last game of the regular season on Saturday against Montreal. Would be nice to kick there but and then meet them in the first round!

Good luck to your team Sith. I still think Boston is a team to watch when the playoff's start...
