ipod classic...
I pray my ipod classic can survive for more years yet....
It's a 120G model which i've had for nearly 5 years.
ALL my music collection sits in it.
What happens next when I want a basic player only ?
I don't to have the phone sitting next to me on the bedside table ! I use it every night to play audiobooks etc. Missus uses a smaller nano. neither one of us wants a 'radiation emitting machine'sitting that close to us all night ... every night....??!!!
Besides that, they don't enough capacity.
Are there other mp3 players still in the market place ?
What do you guys use?

Re: ipod classic...
I want an iPod that can store my entire music collection. Sadly, that does not exist. I have a 64GB iPod iTouch generation 4. Have the WiFi turned off on it since it is no longer supported by Apple and does not need any updates. For my use, I have it plugged into a Kicker iK501 speaker system (no longer made). It works for me. My classic iPod died some years back after a fall from my hands getting out of the car. I suspect when flash memory SSD's can get large enough (and small enough) the return of some classic iPod will come back. That said, I recently got a Nexus 9 (Android device) and the sound quality through that is leaps better than my iPod ever was. I know some years back, my brother had one of those Microsoft Zunes and it had better sound quality as well. Not sure Apple will be the king much longer on that front.

I suppose its still a good idea keeping my cds accessable. This phone I'm on here is a nexus 5. Music-wise its great. I can copy/paste mp3 songs from my pc. It only has a total of 16G and that's for music, pics etc.plus I can grab any song I want, use it as a ringtone for any contact... And no charge. Also have a 8GB 4th gen iPod that doesn't get used too much. I. Plug a little memory stick into the car system.that works well.

Re: ipod classic...
The Ford we have has USB in it and we use the old thumb drive to bring some tunes along. Still, need something that has storage, a keen db for searching... can interface to virtually... Let's but our heads together, Al, and do it our damn selves! I think I can still write code!!! Have not done it in a few years!!! Wait a second... lets pitch it to Google and have them come out with an Android device that can do it!!!
