The word "MATE" can a good and bad thing. I could abuse you and put mate at the end of it like...

"Watch it mate !" as if I'm ready to pick a fight with you.

or

"I love you mate" - That's when you've had too many and slurring your words...

But... you're a good mate. how about that. heh heh...

I didn't know whether to use "mate" or "bloke". I shoulda just used "guys"!
