Hi Smile
Thought it time to revisit.
Apple iPhone 5 released along with iOS 6.
The phone is really just a tweaking of what has gone before.
Apple fans will not complain though.
What is a problem comes from iOS 6.
Apples' decision to drop "Google" mapping for its own has many in despair.
The majority will go with this latest phone though.
With a "hack" to allow the return of "Google" mapping.

So is this a good buy.
To early to tell.
Its strong point in terms of performance is 4G (LTE).

Most phones & their networks struggle to give consistent results with 3G.

For me it is more about Windows phones.
With the eminent release of Windows 8.
The overlap between mobiles to pc are almost complete.
Developers may go with this big time.

In the UK it is possible to pickup both the HTC Mozart or the Nokia Lumia 710 on PAYG for £100 each + top up.

Either of these phones are quicker than the previous phones I've used.
This includes Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Desire HD, Apple iPhone 4S.
Plus is at least equal to the Samsung Galaxy S3.

So the new Windows phones should be something.
Only Nokia appear to have committed to 4G (LTE).

Nokia has two models.
The 820 & 920.
HTC has both the 8X & 8S models.
(No idea about support for 4G.)
Samsung has one model, the Samsung-Ativ-S.

Will folk wait to see these phones released?

With the dominance of Apple & Android it is a difficult call.

The "Apple vs Android" wars could have an effect.

Windows phones will probably rely on MS software & developers.

Let's hope they can make a three way thing.

I for one am already leaning towards windows phones.

Having recently acquired the HTC Mozart, both the Nokia Lumia 710 & 800.
All 3 brand new.
For £395 - all sim free!
That's an average of just under £132 each.

This was funded in part, by my selling a HTC Desire HD & Samsung Galaxy S2 for £320.
Plus an old Garmin satnav £60.
& finally some Sennheiser headphones for a mobile £15.

Hi Smile
I still have/use a Nokia C1-01.

This little phone often works (making/receiving calls).
When other more complicated models fail.

iPhone 4S user now and happy with it, even with iOS6 and missing Google Maps. Apples will get better, Has the TomTom engine. That said, Google submitted a standalone Maps app to Apple with expected release next week. I used to use a DROID and it worked great... when it worked. My wife is still using hers, but it is showing the same tendancies mine did. Locking up, etc. Not good when I often need to take work calls on it. That said, no reason for me to go iPhone5 or consider the Samsung Galaxy IIIS. We have Apple products in my home and PC products; no need to hate either side... they co-exist well.
