freebies
I must admit that I am addicted to freebies, I love testing them and trying them out. The one downside is that the saying, "there is no such thing as a free lunch" always applies as along with the freebie your browser gets changed, your homepage gets changed and popup adverts appear. Over the years I have learned how to get rid of these things and have successfully reverted my machine to the status quo. Unfortunately I am having trouble with a popup that so far has eluded me. I am using Chrome and although I have removed (Search Conduit, which was the malware) I am still getting the popup so I am now searching the registry for the devil in there. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: freebies
Give Malwarebytes a peek... There is a pay version and a free (manual use) version. I have the paid and it runs as a TSR. Boot in safe mode and run it for the best luck at finding and killing the malware. May take a couple of runs.

Thanks Tracy
I downloaded Malwarebyes and it found 12 malware items and removed them on reboot. My computer has never been as quick.

Excellent Martin I also, will remember that. Incidentally as far as keeping the computer relatively healthy I use SYSTEM MECHANIC. It does a good job in a number of areas but it did not help with the malware popups. I like CRAPCLEANER and I have toyed with the idea of going for their paid version BUT I have boosted my subscription to SYSTEM MECHANIC until November 2015. Ces't la vie

Sorry about that.
I use SnagIt.
If you don't have that.
Try "Faststone Capture".
or
"WinSnap ver 1"
Version 1 is free, later ones not.
Attaching images I use either Imageshack, or the forums own.
See HERE...
